Happy Holidays!

We often miss out on the experiences of winter here in San Diego, and in many ways this is a good thing. It is indeed lovely to have temperatures in the 70s when much of the country is covered in snow! However, I often think that we miss the natural cues of our bodies to slow down and look within during the winter months. We’ve been getting some unusually cold weather lately, so take advantage of this reminder to take some time out for yourself during this busy season, to nurture yourself a little, to warm body and soul and get grounded.

My classes will be continuing on the regular schedule through December 20th, with a focus on that nurturing, warming and grounding energy that is so needed in this season. All classes will be canceled from December 21st through January 3rd so that I can spend some time reconnecting with my family.

My first class of 2012 will be Vinyasa Flow at plan-B-fitness on January 5th at 7am. I’m also teaching the community class at The Little Yoga Studio on January 6th, and will resume classes in South Park on January 9th. Stay tuned for details of exciting new projects and deals for the new year!

I wish you and yours a peaceful and joyful holiday season. May the new year bring you love and light. From the light in my heart to the light in yours, namaste.

Reflections on gratitude

Happy Thanksgiving!

With deep gratitude, from my heart to yours. Namaste.

As we approach Thanksgiving, those of us who live in the US are thinking about gratitude. This year, I have so much to be thankful for. To begin with, I’m alive!!! I’m healthy, and those I love are well and safe.

Not only do I have a roof over my head, but I live in an apartment I like, in a great neighborhood and with a beautiful view. Not only do I have enough to eat and drink, but I get to eat a range of delicious and healthy food. We joined a CSA this year, and we get plenty of gorgeous produce practically right to our door.

Not only do I have love in my life from all sides, but my man and I are getting married next summer. I’m so very grateful to have this amazing friend, partner, and supporter who wants to spend the rest of his life with me.

I am so, so grateful for yoga, which has brought so many gifts into my life. It has transformed my health, my spirit, my sense of fulfillment, and indeed how I view my work and personal life. I feel so privileged and honored to teach yoga, to have such beautiful and sincere students, to share the practices that mean so much to me. I am doing my dream job, and I can honestly say that I love what I do.

So, as an expression of my gratitude, Vinyasa Yoga at plan-B-fitness is happening on Thanksgiving morning, November 24th. If you feel like opening your day of giving thanks with yoga, I’ll be there at 7. Happy Thanksgiving.

Today, September 11th, 2011, would be a great day to affirm the Charter for Compassion, and/or make a commitment to compassion on the site. Today, I made the commitment to have more compassion for myself. Through this commitment, I hope to spread peace and lead by example.

Transforming the world one yogi at a time

Yoga has been an intensely transformational practice for me, completely changing my physical, mental and emotional health. I’m very excited to be launching my own yoga classes and projects in order to bring more yoga to the world. I believe that as we change ourselves, we are able to change our relationships, our workplaces, our communities, and eventually the world we live in. Therefore, I want everyone to have access to yoga, which can have such amazing effects on our quality of life. Your journey into yoga will be unique and personal. My mission is to provide a balanced and fun approach to yoga so that my students can find their own paths to transformation. I’m looking forward to working with you!
