Enter the practice of Yoga Nidra, or sleep meditation. It helps us reconnect to our bodies, soothe our nervous systems, and see through the clutter in our minds. It’s deeply relaxing, very accessible (my clients often call it the easiest meditation they’ve ever done), and reconnects us with our deepest wisdom in powerful ways.

What is Yoga Nidra?

Yoga Nidra, also known as Sleep Meditation, is a fully guided meditation practice in the yoga tradition. Designed to help you enter a deeply relaxed state while remaining conscious, Yoga Nidra is healing and rejuvenating.

Yoga Nidra has been well researched, and has been shown to be beneficial for everything from stress, anxiety, and insomnia to physical pain. The entire practice is guided, with a clear structure; no experience is necessary, and it’s very easy to do. All you need is a comfortable place to relax, which can be on a bed, couch, chair, or on the floor. By working with your wishes and intentions, physical sensations, breath, thoughts, and feelings in very specific ways, Yoga Nidra guides you to see more clearly and empowers you to take inspired action towards the life you desire.

Rest & Revitalization Sleep Meditation includes the option of exploring a Healing Dialogue practice in which the facilitator guides you through a conversation with a symptom, body part, thought, or belief so that you can better understand it and gain new insights into how to better support your own health and wellbeing.

I find Yoga Nidra to be one of the most effective practices for deep rest, and especially when practiced consistently over time, it can lead to a kind of clarity that is very challenging to get to in other ways. I hold a Level 2 certification from Anne Douglas and Functional Synergy in Rest and Revitalization Sleep Meditation, a Yoga Nidra practice grounded in both tradition and modern neuroscience, with a emphasis on empowering the individual in a way that is trauma-informed and deeply intuitive.

Yoga Nidra Sleep Meditation and Healing Dialogue can be included in any private yoga therapy program, either on its own or in combination with rehabilitative movement and other yoga practices. If you’re already a client, you can request that Yoga Nidra be added to your current program at any time.
