Rachel Ishiguro offers private and group yoga classes in San Diego. She completed her 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training at Pilgrimage of the Heart Yoga in 2011. She is a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT200) with Yoga Alliance.
Rachel was introduced to yoga by her mother, now a yoga teacher in Victoria, Canada. Rachel began her journey into yoga in the late 1990s, studying Eclectic Hatha and Integral Yoga as a way to manage the stress of college life. She then developed a home practice after moving to Japan to help her deal with culture shock. Upon moving to the U.S., Rachel began taking yoga classes again, and at the Ojai Yoga Crib in 2005, she caught her first glimpse of the deeper significance yoga would have in her life. Since that day, she has expanded her yoga practice beyond asana, exploring pranayama, meditation, kirtan, and philosophy as tools of transformation.
Before becoming a yoga teacher, Rachel worked as an ESL teacher and school administrator for 15 years. She is excited to finally be combining her teaching experience and her yoga practice to share yoga with others. Yoga is a multi-faceted practice with an extraordinary range of benefits: physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. Each person may be seeking different benefits, and this may change throughout our lives as our situations change. Rachel’s mission is to help her students transform their lives by guiding them into yoga wherever they may be on their personal paths.
