Happy Friday, yogis! We’ll be taking a fresh look at Utthita Trikonasana, or (Extended) Triangle Pose, today.
The name of this pose invites us to think about it in terms of geometry. Trikonasana certainly can be pleasing to the eye — and when you hyperfocus on getting your body to fit into a series of straight lines and clean angles, you can sometimes overlook how you’re getting there. You can also miss out on the experience of expansion and ease that is such a key part of this asana.
Here’s a short video with a different approach to Trikonasana. What do you experience when you try the pose in this way? Over time, what shifts?
If you enjoyed this approach, join me for a group class or sign up for a private workshop to learn more about incorporating healthy hip movement into your personal practice.
